At Lake Janis Farm, we grow our Hass avocados with care, passion, and respect for the land.
Our orchard — planted in 2017 with 2,000 trees — thrives without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilisers.
This ensures the avocados you enjoy are as pure and natural as possible.
We believe that food should be chosen for its nutrient density and flavour, not just appearance. That’s why our fruit reflects the health of our soil and the integrity of our farming practices.
Producing Certified Organic avocados is no simple task.
Without synthetic insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilisers, we’ve invested time, patience and research into building resilient biological and regenerative systems.
After a few years of lower yields during the transition, we’re now seeing our orchard flourish.
Fresh shoots and renewed growth on previously struggling trees are a sign that our organic ecosystem is thriving - and we’re excited for what lies ahead.
Some of our Ultrawhite sheep and lambs call the avocado orchard home, enjoying the shade while playing an important role in our organic system.
Instead of spraying chemical herbicides, we rely on them as natural weed managers.
Their presence not only keeps the grass and weeds down but also enriches the soil, their manure providing a natural fertiliser for both the avocado trees and pasture.
Our avocados are proudly Certified Organic through Southern Cross Certified. After a dedicated three-year conversion period, our orchard achieved full organic certification in September 2022.
Each year, Lake Janis Farm undergoes a rigorous audit process to maintain certification.
This includes:
Detailed records of all inputs used in our orchard
Full traceability across our supply chain
Compliance with soil, plant and fruit tissue testing requirements
This commitment means every avocado you receive from us is backed by integrity, transparency, and a genuine respect for both people and planet.
